Service to the Armed Forces

Hoosier Hills Chapter
The Services to Armed Forces program ensures that service members,
veterans and their families have worldwide, around-the-clock access to
timely and reliable humanitarian services. The Red Cross serves
2.6 million active-duty personnel, National Guard/Reserves and their
families through 700 Chapters in the U.S., and on military installations
around the world.
The Hoosier Hills Chapter has trained volunteer Case Workers who verify
and deliver emergency communications 24/7. Emergency
communications services have been provided to members of the military
and their families for more than 100 years as part of the 1905
congressional charter that requires the American Red Cross to act
"in accord with military authorities as a medium of communications
between the people of the United States and their armed forces."
Emergency communications are delivered 365 day of the year, often in
person by a Red Cross staff member overseas.
The unique demands of military duty, with frequent separations from
family members, can be extremely stressful for service members and
their families. The Department of Defense and the American Red Cross
have joined forces to offer services to improve the morale and welfare
of our soldiers, and provide family members support and peace of mind.
Part of this effort is a resource website called,
militaryonesource.com,
which offers a wealth of information and confidential assistance.
